Easiest Method to Install XP on a Computer with NO CD or Floppy Drive!

Yeah I know a little out of the ordinary from our previous posts but hey it could be useful to the right person.
What made me want to write about this? Well assuming you read about my journey with eBay you’ll know that I bought a tablet pc without a CD drive and floppy drive! ![]()
WITH NO OPERATING SYSTEM INSTALLED!
So after several days of going to the local tech shop and having two technicians kids look at it - nothing. So I thought I would put my thinking cap on and go to work. And I did.
What you need to install Windows XP Tablet / Professional / Home Edition without a CD or Floppy Drive are;
- Desktop Computer ( used to place laptop hard drive )
- Laptop to IDE Hard Drive Adapter ( Allows your Laptop hard drive to be used in your desktop ) - $8.00
- MS DOS 7.10 CD ( used to copy files to your computer) - FREE!
What you need to do to install Windows XP Tablet / Professional / Home Edition without a CD or Floppy Drive are;
- Remove ALL hard drive/s from your Desktop PC
- Attach the Laptop to IDE Adapter to the Desktop PC
- Now attach it to the laptop hard drive
- Place MS DOS CD when computer asks to boot from CD
- Choose to Install
- Once installation is finished remove MS DOS CD
- Desktop PC will now boot into MS DOS
- Insert WINDOWS XP CD ( Home, Professional, Tablet or Media Center )
- Assuming your hard drive is C: and,
- Assuming your CD Drive is D:
- Type this; xcopy E:\ /s C:
- Once completed remove Windows XP CD
- OPTIONAL: IF YOU HAVE TWO CDs REPEAT PROCESS
- Now that your Windows XP files have been copied you may place hard drive back into Laptop
- When the laptop boots it will load MS DOS
- Type; smartdrv C:
- Type: winnt

This is the quickest and most cost efficient way in successfully installing Windows XP on a computer with a CD ROM drive nor a Floppy drive!
